Arab Union of Customs Executives, attended the International Conference organized by the World Customs Organization
Dr. Mamdouh Rifai, President of the Arab Union of Customs
Executives, attended the International Conference organized by the World
Customs Organization in the Belgian capital (Brussels). The conference discusses
the main points on transit, electronic sealing, shipment safety, rapid release
at the customs ports and the houses of the technical unit of the Agadir
Agreement to ease the Arabic European and Arabic trade.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Fakhri Hazeaima and Dr.
Mohamed Tolba from the technical unit of the Agadir Agreement, and exchanged
views and ideas on customs activity, Arab agreements, ways of activating the
same and Agadir role in linking and increasing intra-Arab trade and Arab
European trade through the European and Arab agreements signed by the technical
unit of Agadir.
He also met Mr. Bashubati Pandi, Director of Technical
Techniques at the World Customs Organization, Mr. Murad Arfaoui, Director of
Regional Development in the Middle East, Mr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Humaidan,
Customs Attaché and Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the World
Customs Organization and Colonel Raed Al Shayeb, manager of electronic
follow-up of Jordanian Customs. The meeting discussed many mutual topics and
that related to the objectives of the Union.
Dr. Al-Rifai met with Mr. Kyunio Myokuriya, Secretary-General
of the World Customs Organization. In addition, Dr. Mamdouh Al-Refai presented a
comprehensive explanation of the Arab Union of Customs Clearance, its
objectives and vision in the customs work and its aspirations, rather than
discussing the ideas on customs performance and customs trustee.
He praised the Union's role and stressed the importance of
the Union's ideas in the customs work and what it hopes to reach. He added that
customs plays an important role in protecting the borders of countries by fighting
smuggling, arms and non-allowed commodities and also fighting illegal financial
flows. Such problems can be solved through dissemination of awareness and
customs culture.
In this meeting, Mr. Kyonio Myokuriya expressed his happiness
and the discussions that took place on
customs performance
WCO is an
intergovernmental organization based in Brussels established in 1952 in the
name of the Customs Cooperation Council. Today, the organization has 178
members from customs departments around the world. Its mission is to improve
the efficiency of customs administrations by developing international legal
instruments to coordinate customs systems and effective communication among member
states. To achieve this mission, the Organization prepares and manages various
international covenants, tools and standards for coordination and unified
application of simplified and effective customs regulations and procedures
governing the movement of goods, persons and trans-boundary means of transport.
The organization provides capability building and technical assistance to be as
means necessary to support modernization efforts.
