Establishment of the Union

This union was established in accordance with the unified constitutional regulation for specialized Arab professional unions and the basic agreement for these unions, which were approved by the Arab Economic Unity Council during its 38th session (Decision No. 820 / D 38 on 2/12/1981). The Arab Republic of Egypt ratified the regulation and agreement under Presidential Decree No. 103 of 2006 and its approval by the People’s Assembly. The ratification document was deposited with the General Secretariat of the Arab Economic Unity Council in August 2006. On May 25, 2017, the Arab Economic Unity Council, during its 104th session, approved, through Decision No. 1737/D104, the request of the Arab Federation of Customs Brokers to join the specialized Arab professional unions operating within the scope of the Council.

The union enjoys legal personality and full capacity to carry out its activities and achieve its objectives. It also enjoys administrative and financial independence. The union’s headquarters in Cairo, along with its branches and offices, benefits from the privileges and immunities stipulated in the Agreement on the Privileges and Immunities of the Arab Economic Unity Council, as well as in accordance with agreements made with the concerned countries. Furthermore, the members of the union’s Board of Directors, the Advisory Council, the permanent secretariat, and the heads of the union’s branches and offices benefit from the privileges and immunities stipulated in the Agreement on the Privileges and Immunities of the Arab Economic Unity Council, in addition to what is agreed upon with the concerned countries.
