Launch of a Training Course on “Strategic Analysis of the Trade Balance” at Alexandria University
Today, Saturday, May 3, 2025, Alexandria University – Faculty of Business held the opening of a training course organized by the Arab Union of Customs Brokers entitled “Strategic Analysis of the Trade Balance and Foreign Trade Data Using Trade Map.” This is part of the Union’s ongoing efforts to build the capacities of young cadres and prepare them for the regional and international labor market.
The course targeted students of the Faculty of Business, economic operators, and those interested in foreign trade and market analysis. It aimed to equip participants with practical skills in analyzing the trade balance and international trade data through tools from the International Trade Centre, such as the Trade Map platform and the Euromed Trade Helpdesk. The course helped participants understand the dynamics of global trade and identify suitable export markets, enhancing their ability to make well-informed strategic trade decisions.
The course was inaugurated with opening remarks by Professor Dr. Mohamed Omar Hammad, Head of the Public Finance Department at the Faculty of Business – Alexandria University. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to the Arab Union of Customs Brokers for their cooperation in organizing the course and for their real efforts to raise awareness and knowledge among students and the commercial community in trade and customs fields across the Arab world. He also encouraged students to make the most of the course content and actively participate for the benefit of their academic and professional journeys.
The floor was then handed over to Mr. Samir Abu Al-Nasr, Secretary-General of the Union, who welcomed the students and the commercial community attending the course. He noted that this training is part of the ongoing cooperation between the Union and the Faculty of Business at Alexandria University. He emphasized that the Union will hold several training courses and workshops for university students and the commercial community aimed at spreading awareness and building capacities, which are among the Union’s core objectives. The Secretary-General affirmed that this course is part of a series of training programs designed to enhance partnerships between academic institutions and the Union, linking theoretical knowledge with practical application, thus helping prepare a new generation of specialists capable of meeting the demands of regional and international trade.
The course activities began with an introductory session presented by Dr. Mai Al-Jabri, an expert in economics and foreign trade and a certified trainer from the International Trade Centre. She discussed the importance of the trade balance in supporting the national economy, providing a detailed presentation on the Trade Map platform and how to use it to analyze foreign trade flows and identify export opportunities. The session included practical training on writing analytical reports on the geographical and commodity structure of exports and imports.
The course also included a presentation on the Euromed Trade Helpdesk platform and its tools for promoting products and services and maximizing the use of market information, focusing on trade performance indicators and strategies for analyzing targeted markets.
