Official Meeting Between the Arab Federation of Customs Brokers and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce (Egypt)
Mr. Jaber Bassiouni, Secretary General of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, received Dr. Mamdouh Al-Rifai, President of the Arab Federation of Customs Brokers, and Mr. Samir Abu Al-Nasr, Secretary General of the Federation, at the Chamber’s headquarters in Alexandria.
The meeting addressed several Arab economic issues of concern to Arab citizens, introduced the Federation, its goals, activities, and recent steps taken through communication with institutions, companies, and individuals across Arab countries.
Dr. Mamdouh Al-Rifai highlighted the Federation’s work in raising awareness among exporters and importers, providing studies and solutions to decision-makers, strengthening Arab economic relations, overcoming obstacles to intra-Arab trade, enhancing customs brokers’ skills, and keeping pace with technological advancements and modern electronic systems.
Dr. Al-Rifai also expressed his appreciation for potential cooperation with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, acknowledging its status as one of the oldest chambers in Egypt and the Middle East.
Mr. Samir Abu Al-Nasr, Secretary General of the Federation, emphasized the importance of implementing the single-window system for its role in speeding up procedures at customs ports and saving time and effort.
Mr. Jaber Bassiouni stressed the role of chambers of commerce in building bridges with customs authorities and other governmental entities, advocating for the expansion of X-ray inspection systems in customs, and raising the capacity of customs stakeholders through training programs in cooperation with the Federation.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Mamdouh Al-Rifai presented a draft cooperation agreement with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.
