Official Meeting Between the Arab Federation of Customs Brokers and the Egyptian Export Development Authority
Ms. Hala El-Dakrouri, Head of the Central Department for Export Finance and Logistics at the Egyptian Export Development Authority, received Mr. Samir Abu El-Nasr, Secretary-General of the Arab Federation of Customs Brokers, at the authority’s headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting addressed several Arab economic issues of concern to Arab citizens, along with an introduction to the Federation, its objectives, and activities, as well as the steps taken recently through communication with entities, institutions, companies, and individuals in Arab countries.
Mr. Abu El-Nasr explained that the Federation has signed a number of joint agreements with Arab customs clearance authorities and unions in Jordan and Lebanon, noting that such unions are key pillars of the customs brokerage profession. He emphasized the importance of engaging with these unions due to their local and regional market expertise.
He added that the Federation’s shared concerns with the Export Development Authority focus on enhancing exports and achieving Arab economic integration.
Abu El-Nasr also stated that the Federation is working to establish an electronic linkage system among Arab customs administrations, covering laws, regulations, procedures, exemptions, restricted goods, duties, inspections, certificates of conformity, and other issues relevant to exporters and importers.
Ms. Hala El-Dakrouri suggested collecting the challenges and obstacles facing exporters and importers to present them in upcoming meetings with the Federation for collaborative study and solutions. She highlighted the importance of presenting these issues during meetings of the Arab Economic Unity Council.
She also pointed to the need to activate the Arab Free Trade Agreement and the Agadir Agreement to benefit from their provisions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Samir Abu El-Nasr submitted a memorandum of understanding between the Arab Federation of Customs Brokers and the Egyptian Export Development Authority.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Samir Abu El-Nasr, Secretary-General of the Federation; Mr. Omar Shawky, Assistant Secretary-General; and from the Export Development Authority: Ms. Hala El-Dakrouri, Head of the Central Department for Export Finance and Logistics; Ms. Heba El-Wakeel, Director of the Sectoral Units Department – Export Development Policies Sector; and Ms. Sabah Sobhi, Director General of Legal Affairs.
