The 38th session was held yesterday, August 29, at the headquarters of the Arab League, with the participation of Customs Directors from all Arab countries.
Dr. Mamdouh Al-Rifai, President of the Arab Union of Customs Brokers, inspected the meeting attended by Customs Directors from all Arab countries.
The meeting aimed to review the latest developments reached by the directors in the Customs Union, customs tariffs, customs procedures, and to build bridges of communication among them.
In side discussions with the directors, communication was made with Mr. Sayed Kamal Najm, Director General of Egyptian Customs, regarding the activation of the agreement and the proposal of a training program for customs brokers.
There was also communication with Counselor Jamal Hadel Al-Jalawi, Director General of Kuwaiti Customs, to strengthen Arab intra-trade bridges.
Additionally, discussions with Major General Dr. Bashir Al-Tahir Bashir, Director General of Sudanese Customs, focused on developing the procedures for customs brokers at the ports.
Mr. Badri Daher, Director General of Lebanese Customs, was also engaged regarding clearance movement at customs ports and a work plan to combat commercial fraud and counterfeit goods.
Agreements for joint cooperation are expected to be signed soon with the Directors of Customs from Oman, Tunisia, Bahrain, and Libya.
During the session, the following topics were addressed:

Introducing new ideas for training customs brokers

Presenting a program to combat commercial fraud and counterfeit goods

Building bridges for Arab intra-trade

Improving clearance movement and developing customs broker procedures at customs ports

Defining the roles, responsibilities, and duties of customs brokers at customs authorities
