The Arab Union of Customs Clearance Agents participated in the workshop held by the Alexandria Port Authority titled “Cross-Border Trade Index,” which took place at the Authority’s conference hall in Alexandria.

Rear Admiral (Ret.) Medhat Atiya, Chairman of the Alexandria Port Authority, reviewed the projects completed at the port, ongoing projects, dredging projects at Alexandria Port, the establishment of a parking garage for incoming vehicles to avoid previous issues of storing vehicles on the port quay alongside large containers, and the port expansion through allocating new land to the Authority.

Dr. Maha Nassar, Advisor to the Minister of Transport, emphasized that reducing the waiting time for ships outside the port is crucial for speeding up import and export processes, achieved by expediting clearance procedures at ports.

Dr. Nermin Abu El-Atta, Advisor to the Minister of Trade and Industry, highlighted the important role of Alexandria Port in serving the Egyptian economy, noting that the Ministry of Trade and Industry supports the port in cooperation with all ministries through the “Egy Trade” program.

Mr. Mohsen Ahmed, First Undersecretary at the Ministry of Finance, pointed out the port authority’s role in increasing Egypt’s national income, stating that the authority finances most of its projects through self-funding and that the port’s income this year has tripled compared to previous years.

Representing the Arab Union of Customs Clearance Agents at the workshop were Mr. Mohamed Hamada, Assistant Secretary-General, and Mr. Mohamed Yehia, member of the General Assembly.
