The Arab Union of Customs Brokers Hosted by Kuwait Customs

His Excellency Counselor Jamal Hadel Al-Jalawi, Director General of the General Administration of Kuwait Customs, welcomed Dr. Mamdouh Al-Rifai, President of the Arab Union of Customs Brokers, at the headquarters of the Kuwait Customs.

The meeting addressed several Arab economic issues of concern to the Arab citizen. Dr. Al-Rifai presented the Union, its objectives, activities, and the steps it has taken recently to strengthen engagement with authorities, institutions, and individuals in Arab countries. The discussion also covered ways to enhance intra-Arab trade development and the critical role customs authorities play in combating fraud, smuggling, and the parallel economy.

Dr. Mamdouh Al-Rifai praised the great efforts and significant role of Kuwait Customs in protecting the national economy and contributing to the advancement of joint Arab customs work and regional trade.

Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to supporting local products due to their key role in diversifying sources of income. He highlighted a new mechanism being implemented to accelerate customs clearance procedures.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Rifai presented a draft cooperation agreement between the Arab Union of Customs Brokers and the General Administration of Kuwait Customs, as part of the Union’s strategic plan to promote integration among Arab customs authorities in service of the region’s economy and its citizens.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mamdouh Al-Rifai, President of the Arab Union of Customs Brokers, and Mr. Salem Al-Ati, Kuwait’s representative and member of the Union’s Board of Directors. From the Kuwait Customs side, Counselor Jamal Hadel Al-Jalawi, Director General, and Mr. Ibrahim Dashti, Head of the Customs Brokers Office, were present.
