The Arab Union of Customs Executives Participates in the 49th Regular Meeting of Specialized Arab Unions

The Arab Union of Customs Executives participated in the activities of the 49th regular meeting of specialized Arab unions operating under the Arab Economic Unity Council, held in Hurghada, Egypt, upon a kind invitation from the General Secretariat of the Arab Economic Unity Council. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Al-Rabee, Secretary-General of the Arab Economic Unity Council; His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Egyptian Minister of Endowments and President of the Arab Endowments Authority Union; Major General Ahmed Abdullah, Governor of the Red Sea; His Excellency Ambassador Wadadi Ould Said Heiba, Mauritanian Ambassador; and permanent representatives of member states at the Arab League.

The 49th regular meeting addressed the role of the Arab private sector in supporting the Palestinian economy, as well as proposals and studies submitted to the Arab Economic Unity Council by various specialized Arab unions concerning “Reconstruction and development in Arab countries affected by the repercussions of the Arab Spring revolutions.” This included a study submitted by the Arab Union of Customs Executives on reconstruction and the union’s role therein. The union was thanked and presented with a shield for its significant efforts in preparing the study, which was received by Mr. Samir Abu Al-Nasr, Secretary-General of the union. It was also mentioned that a conference will be held in Cairo to discuss these studies.

The meeting also covered working papers presented by Arab unions on sustainable development and the role of the unions in this development, along with a review of union activities for the years 2017 and 2018 and plans for 2019.

Representing the Arab Union of Customs Executives at the meeting were Mr. Samir Abu Al-Nasr, Secretary-General, and Mr. Mohamed Hamada, Assistant Secretary-General.
