Activities of the “Damietta Forum for the Development and Access of Egyptian Exports”

On Monday, April 14, 2025, the Arab Union of Customs Clearance Professionals, in cooperation with the Damietta Chamber of Commerce, organized the “Forum for the Development and Access of Egyptian Exports” at the Chamber’s headquarters in Damietta. The forum was held with the participation of several official entities, experts, and stakeholders from the trade and customs sectors.

The event witnessed active participation from the Foreign Trade Agreements and Trade Sector of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), the Egyptian Customs Authority – Exporters and Producers Support Unit, the Egyptian Export Development Authority, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, as well as representatives and members of the Damietta Chamber of Commerce, customs clearance professionals, exporters and importers, supply chain actors, and stakeholders from related fields.

The forum included two key sessions addressing topics of interest to economic operators.
In the first session, Mr. Michael Gamal, Regional Director of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, presented the MERCOSUR Agreement and the export opportunities and advantages it offers.

Mr. Abdel Hai Abou El-Rous, Director General of Exports at Damietta Customs – Egyptian Customs Authority, gave a presentation on the customs facilities provided by the Authority to support exporters and producers.

The second session featured Eng. Mohsen Shoaib, Head of Operations Sector at GOEIC, who discussed the authority’s role in supporting exporters and facilitating export flows.

Mr. Mohamed Othman, Director General of Information and Media at the Egyptian Export Development Authority, presented the authority’s efforts to enhance the access of Egyptian exports to international markets.

A representative of the Arab Union of Customs Clearance Professionals also highlighted the services offered by the Union to support stakeholders in dealing with customs in Arab countries.

Mr. Raef Haseeb, Head of Marketing and Business Development at Misr Insurance Company, spoke about the insurance services and benefits offered to Union members.

The forum concluded with an open discussion session that saw significant engagement from attendees, during which many questions and inquiries were raised regarding the challenges faced by exporters. This enriched the dialogue and strengthened communication between relevant authorities and participants.

The closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Mamdouh El-Rifai, President of the Arab Union of Customs Clearance Professionals, who emphasized the importance of joint efforts and collaboration among all parties involved in the forum to promote and expand Egyptian exports to international markets. He also highlighted the importance of ongoing communication with the Union’s Advisory Council, which includes a select group of customs and economic experts, to support export growth and address the challenges faced by economic operators.
